Office WiFi and remote access
The problem
A small organisation had grown from a single room to multiple offices. WiFi was provided by the ISP router, coverage was patchy, and staff working from home connected via an ad-hoc VPN with no documentation. Volunteers regularly lost connectivity during meetings.
The solution
Site survey, structured cabling to key locations, business-grade access points with a dedicated controller, VLAN separation for staff and guests, and a documented VPN solution for hybrid workers.
The outcome
Stable WiFi across all rooms, guest network isolated from internal resources, and secure remote access with written handover documentation.
Lessons learned
Consumer-grade ISP routers do not scale with organisations. Investing in proper AP placement and VLAN design early prevents expensive rework later.
